Privacy notice

Your family’s details deserve care. This notice explains how this site handles information and what is still being confirmed.

Draft for launch · Updated 5 October 2026. Business details and final policies are being confirmed before orders open.

Who is responsible

The responsible business is [Registered business name], [Registered business address], [Country of registration]. Privacy contact: hello@hugandink.com.

Our business details, service providers and retention periods are being finalised and will be completed before orders open.

Personalising and sharing a preview

The builder uses your child’s first name, optional name meaning, parent title, character choices, dedication and optional credit to show your book. Artwork is assembled in your browser.

Your choices are also saved in the page URL so that refreshes and shared links keep them. These URLs may be retained in browser history or hosting logs. Anyone with a shared link can see its names and messages. Share links carefully and avoid sensitive details.

Emails to us

When you email us, we keep your message and email address in our inbox so we can reply.

A creative pitch should contain your own work or material you have permission to share.

Website and third-party services

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses, requested URLs and access logs to deliver and secure it. Typefaces load from Google Fonts, so visiting the site makes requests to Google’s font services.

Service providers: Cloudflare (hosting), Stripe (payments and order records), and our print partner (being confirmed). Where providers process information outside your country, the final notice will document the transfer safeguards.

Purposes, legal bases and orders

When you order, your book’s personalisation (names, choices and any dedication), the price, and the name, email, phone number and delivery address you give at checkout are held by Stripe, our payment provider, so we can print and deliver your book and keep financial records. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.

Responding to an enquiry may involve taking steps at your request before a contract. Keeping the site secure may rely on a legitimate interest, subject to the required assessment. We will not add you to marketing emails because you order or make an enquiry.

Sharing and keeping information

We share information only as needed to provide the service: with Stripe for payment and order records, our print partner to make and send your book, and Cloudflare to host the site. We do not sell personal information.

Retention periods are being finalised: [Email, order and accounting retention periods]. Order records needed for accounting are kept for the legally required period; you can ask us to delete other information at any time.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or delete information, object to or restrict its use, or receive a copy in a portable format. Where consent is used, you may withdraw it. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations.

You may also complain to your relevant data protection authority: [Relevant data protection authority and complaint link]. Contact us to discuss a request once the contact channel is active.

Children’s information

This service is designed for adults creating books for children. Use only the details needed for a preview or order. Please do not send children’s photographs, full birth dates, school details or other sensitive information through an enquiry.

We will update this notice when the service or its data practices change.
